Listen: in the time before your calendar, there was a moon. That’s not accurate, I guess. First there wasn’t a moon, and then there was. She hung above (silver, perfect) and brought light to our sorry cavern. Each day she danced overhead, raining joy on our thirsty faces, and all she wanted in return was true love.
What else could we do?
Crime of Passion is a dungeon level centered on the conflict between two former lovers who had a nasty breakup and now dedicate the rest of their existence to making that everybody’s problem. It's written for His Majesty the Worm.
Features:
- Two spiteful exes
- The (rumored) key to heart's desire
- Thieving glass homunculi
- Withered artists painting the walls with flame
- A strange moon, watching from above
All art is public domain.
I wrote about the process of making this, from a tarot spread for ideation to actually keying it out, on my blog.

Fantastic module -- beautifully written. A joy to read, regardless of whether you run it. That said: I'm eager to run this!
awww yeah thank you!! please keep me posted if/when you end up bringing this to the table
“The moon above holds a great treasure: the key to heart’s desire. Problem: the moon’s way up high. Solution: everyone here knows that when true love finds the thrones, the moon will descend once more. Problem #2: the thrones are currently occupied by two of the world’s biggest haters.”
This level of writing is consistent throughout the dungeon. A whimsy reminiscent of Fallen London, with solid dungeon-design principles underlying everything. Solid recommend to put this level in your His Majesty the Worm Underworld.
any comparison to FL is high praise. thank you! :)
